Satluj on ZEE5: Release Date, Removal, and Current Status
Premiered uncut on 3 July 2026, then pulled for Indian viewers. What we know about availability and what changed.
The question everyone asks: can I stream Satluj right now? The honest answer is region- and moment-dependent — and as of the latest reporting, the answer for most viewers is no. Here's exactly what happened.
3 July 2026: The Release
After years stuck behind the censors — the full timeline is here — Satluj premiered quietly on ZEE5. No big marketing blitz; it just appeared, in its uncut version, under its third title. Diljit Dosanjh seemed to know what was coming: on an Instagram Live that weekend, he told followers to watch it fast, saying he felt it could be taken down by Monday.
5 July 2026: The Removal
He was right. Within 48 hours, ZEE5 removed Satluj from its Indian catalogue. The platform's statement cited "current developments" and said the film would be "unavailable in India until further notice," while promising to pursue "every appropriate avenue through due process" to bring it back.
Reporting afterwards filled in the likely cause: government sources told NDTV the film had never received CBFC certification, and the I&B Ministry moved against the uncertified streaming release under the IT Rules.
Then It Went Global
Days later, viewers abroad noticed the film disappearing from ZEE5 International too — the UAE, the UK, everywhere. Director Honey Trehan confirmed the global removal. No official reason was ever given for the international takedown.
So Where Can You Watch It?
- ZEE5 India: unavailable until further notice.
- ZEE5 International: removed as well.
- Other platforms: no licensed streaming home has been announced.
- Theatres: no theatrical release has been announced.
Do not pay third-party sites claiming to sell or stream it — they're scams or piracy operations. The only legitimate path is to wait for an official restoration, which the ongoing legal efforts are pushing for. Meanwhile, community screenings have kept the film visible in some places.
